River Tamar

You can leave everything behind and immerse yourself in a completely remote environment without having to take a plane and travel half way around the world. Join Lynher in Plymouth or nearby Torpoint, in SE Cornwall. If you arrive in Plymouth, you can board Lynher at Mayflower Marina which is only 10 minutes from the citycentre. Or you can contact the office to arrange boarding from South East Cornwall.

Be ready to explore this mighty river, its heritage and unspoilt beauty of just over a century of untouched nature. The heritage of the River Tamar is vast and unique. As a border between Devon and Cornwall, many battles were fought on its shores and treasures hidden in its castles.  It was home to a thriving transport trade which lasted for centuries until the advent of the railway. You can view and hear more about the heritage of the waterways and the Tamar barges on our history page

During the day sail, you can take part in the sailing of the barge or relax on deck, watching the world go by, no previous experience is required. Aboard you will find an array of small boats and a SUP to continue exploring when the barge drops anchor in a secluded cove. Good food, healthy lifestyle and an outstanding scenery are a perfect formula to release every day stress and fatigue.
