River Lynher

Join Lynher at Mayflower Marina in Plymouth for a special day out with your friends and family. Lynher’s crew will introduce you to the barge. You can join in with the sailing of the barge and the pilotage or you can sit back, relax and enjoy the riverscape. No previous experience is required.

Sailing to a secluded anchorage on the River Lynher aboard the Lynher barge is quite a unique and personal experience. Lynher and her river share a rich heritage made by generations of waterways community. The river is a living presence that transmits its moods through the flow of the tide and the migration of fish as big and wild as the Alaskan salmon. It is a privilege to share the unspoilt nature of this environment whilst feeling as one with it.

After enjoying a picnic lunch on deck, you can land ashore to explore one of the many countryside walks along the river shores, rich with wildlife and traces of post-industrial heritage. Or if you prefer, try rowing or sailing one of our small dinghies in the safe haven of these bays under our crew supervision.
